| Namche Bazaar | 3,440 m | +11 °C | +2 °C |

Modelled 10-year averages (ERA5 / ERA5-Land via Open-Meteo), checked against the Pyramid research station in the Khumbu, 2016-2025 (within about 1–2 °C of the station's measurements). Temperatures only: the model's rainfall is too coarse to trust in rain-shadow valleys such as Manang, so we leave it out. Mountain valleys and ridges vary more than these grid-model averages show.
Peak spring
April is the heart of the spring season. Days are milder than in March, the rhododendron forests below Tengboche are in bloom, and the high trail is at its most comfortable of the spring.
Expedition season
April is when Everest climbing expeditions set up at Base Camp, so you’ll see a tented village on the glacier rather than an empty moraine. It’s one of the few times trekkers see Base Camp in use.
What to expect
- Busy trails and teahouses. Book flights and rooms early.
- Afternoon cloud. Mornings are usually the clearest; cloud often builds after midday.
- Lukla flights. In peak season, flights leave from Ramechhap, a 4–5 hour drive from Kathmandu.
